German immigrants founded El Anfora in 1920 in Mexico City. Since
its creation, Anfora has been dedicated to ceramic manufacturing.
Thanks to the German expertise of the founders, together with
the innate Mexican artistic skills, El Anfora quickly became the
leader in vitrified ceramic manufacturing in Mexico.
Through time, Anfora strengthened its leadership with state of
the art technology and the use of the best quality raw materials,
supplying up to 90% of all Mexican hotels and restaurants tableware
requirements, offering the highest quality, service and high-resistance
vitrified dinnerware especially developed for this market.
Currently, Anfora has the most modern ceramic manufacturing facilities
in Latin America, located in the State of Hidalgo, Mexico, where
more than 1’000 workers manufacture the best-vitrified tableware
and sanitary furniture sold in Mexico. A constant improvement
in service times, in quality and in design has enabled Anfora
to surpass international requirements, satisfying even the though
California FDA standards.
In order to satisfy the different needs of the market, Anfora
has developed also household dinnerware and sanitary furniture
lines with the same levels of quality and design, which have always
distinguished the company.
Raw materials are carefully selected and processed to convert
them into adequate inputs for the manufacture of different products,
which undergo strict quality control at our own laboratory and
throughout the entire production.
Once the selected raw materials are milled, blended and aged,
a preliminary ceramic body is formed to make the dinnerware pieces.
Liquid paste is poured into moulds, used in the manufacture of
hollow ware; plastic bodies are used in the manufacture of cups,
bowls and plates; and dry granulated paste is used to make large
round and oval plates on isostatic presses, everything manufactured
with modern German technology and know how.
In the production process, all formed pieces go through a first
firing at 1830°Farenheit, by which they acquire basic body
strength. They are then glazed using top quality, lead free glazes,
after which the pieces go into the kiln for a second fire, this
time at a temperature of 2’340°Farenheit, where the glaze
develops its attractive brightness and high resistance to abrasion
and metal markings. The product is thus completely vitrified,
making it totally hygienic but also safe for use in conventional
and microwave ovens, as well as highly resistant to chipping.
Finally, all products feet are perfectly polished, to avoid damage
to tables, countertops and to each plate for reliable storing
and worriless stacking.
The decoration process is made with special colors or decals,
always free from lead and cadmium colors used by cheap competitors.
After the application of the decal or hand painted design, the
pieces undergo a third fire in a kiln burning at 1’950°Farenheit.
At this high temperature, the decoration is completely absorbed
by the glaze, or in the glaze, allowing a safer use and a longer
lasting product life. At the end of the process, each individual
piece is inspected thoroughly by quality control inspectors and
is packed correspondingly.
Product features
All of our products are quality tested in our laboratory. These
tests guarantee outstanding quality complying with international
standards.
- Hardness:
The high quality of raw materials used, as well as high firing
temperatures, gives Anfora’s products its unique hardness
and durability.
- Scratch
resistance: The hardness of the glaze, achieved through strictly
controlled firing conditions, protects products against scratching
caused by the continued use of cutlery and mishandling in restaurant
washing processes.
- Remarkable
durability: All of Anfora products are designed and manufactured
to withstand temperature changes, tough commercial use and can
be used in conventional or microwave ovens.
- Hygienic
surfaces: The quality of the materials and the durability of
our glazes avoid liquid filtration and germ accumulation. Water
absorption is zero.
- Replacement
guarantee: All products manufactured by Anfora can be replaced
with the decoration or model of the customer’s choice,
assuring a long life in business.

Household dinnerware
Thinner china is blended in a variety of classic and modern designs
that suit every taste. All lines are dishwasher safe, as well
as usable in both microwave and conventional ovens.

innovation by our designers.
Sanitary ware
Anfora manufactures sanitary furniture since the 1940´s,
focusing its process on the production of special designs and
materials that permit very low water consumption. The ecological
models have a totally waterless operation, as well as our water-free
urinals. Broad ranges of water closets, water tanks, lavatories
and pedestals are offered.
